New Advisors to the University Executive Board

The University Executive Board of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München has appointed Professor Monika Schnitzer and Professor Thomas Hessto two new advisory roles. Both will support the University Executive Board on important strategic issues going forward.

Professor Monika Schnitzer has been appointed Senior Strategic Advisor to the University Executive Board. She is a professor at LMU’s Faculty of Economics and conducts research in the areas of innovation, competition policy, and multinational corporations. She is also chair of the German Council of Economic Experts, making her one of the German government’s “economic sages.”

Monika Schnitzer was chair of the Verein für Socialpolitik, the German Economic Association. She was also a member of LMU’s University Research Committee and, in this role, contributed to the successful Excellence Strategy application. With her extensive experience serving on various committees and many years of policy advisory work in Germany and Europe, she will support the University Executive Board and contribute her expertise to LMU’s strategic development.

Professor Thomas Hess, head of the Institute for Digital Management and New Media at LMU, will serve as Advisor for Strategic Organizational Development. A professor of business administration, he will advise the University Executive Board in particular on the digital transformation of processes and structures, as well as the technical infrastructure required for this transformation. The new University Executive Board has already initiated numerous changes in this area since taking office.

Thomas Hess is among the internationally leading experts in the digital transformation of companies. He has also supported and advised companies for many years. In addition to his academic expertise, he will bring this practical experience to his new role.

With the appointment of Monika Schnitzer and Thomas Hess, the University Executive Board is specifically strengthening its strategic advisory capacity in the areas of university development, organizational development, and forward planning.
